We operate primarily through proactive partnership rather than open application. We seek out institutions and innovators whose work aligns with our long-term strategic pillars. Collaboration is key to our model; we often co-develop projects with our partners rather than acting solely as a financier.

Waddesdon Manor is a National Trust property managed by the Rothschild Foundation under a unique scheme of management. This arrangement allows the family to maintain active stewardship of the estate, ensuring the collection and grounds are preserved to the highest standards while remaining accessible to the public.

The Windmill Hill Archive acts as the repository for the family’s history and the Foundation’s records. It is a working private archive. Access is granted to academic researchers and historians strictly by appointment, following the submission of a formal research proposal.

We are the bridge. While each foundation in our network—such as the Edmond de Rothschild Foundations or The Eranda Rothschild Foundation—operates with its own specific Board and mandate, The Rothschild Foundation facilitates high-level cooperation and knowledge sharing between them to maximise our collective impact.
